Today, our community honored the memory of Alexa Hernandez-Espinoza on the one-year anniversary of her passing.
We reflected on her love for Lilo and Stitch, the meaning of ohana and family, and her love for ladybugs and what they can teach us about the 7 Joys and Sorrows of Mary.
Alexa, we love you and miss you. You'll never be out of our hearts, and we look forward to joining you in the Communion of Saints, God willing. 💜

Prek 4 was able to fill their kindness jar all the way to the top. They were so excited about being kind during this Lenten time. Due to their kind deeds we will offer a Mass for the retired priests at St. John's Manor and well as send them an art project. They are so excited.
It may be Spring Break, but work isn't stopping!
As recommended by our security plan, we are installing fencing in the front courtyard in order to better protect the school and students. As always, we are grateful to our community and partners who are making this happen!

Our 7/8 grade marketing elective class and our MSM junior service learning students helped Mrs. Yancey prepare the book fair for next week's grand opening!
We are happy that we have started some soccer teams this year! We are grateful to the coaches and the parents who are supporting and encouraging these boys, and they were fun to watch in their games tonight!

In the next phase of our security plan, we are implementing off-duty Pulaski County deputies to provide security around our school day! We are grateful to Sheriff Higgins and Lieutenant Foster for making arrangements, and we welcome Officer Wright today!

As we approach the one year anniversary of the passing of Alexa Hernandez-Espinoza, we want to announce two ways we will honor her memory and invite you to be a part.
For the school community, on April 9, we will have a Lilo and Stitch-themed Alexa Day. More information will be distributed to school families.
We are also happy to share that we will dedicate a memorial bench on the playground in honor of Alexa. We hope to create a peaceful, prayerful memorial garden space, and everyone is invited to financially contribute to this project. Everyone is invited to attend Mass on May 1 at 8:30 am and join us following Mass for the bench dedication with Bishop Anthony B. Taylor.
Alexa's mom shared that Alexa liked to bring ladybugs home from school. 🐞
As a way to honor this beautiful memory, students will paint ladybug stones that will surround the bench. There is a beautiful story that the ladybug gets its name because the insect appeared after villagers prayed for Mary's intercession during a time of pests destroying crops. The villagers called the red, spotted bugs "Our Lady's Beetle," which has been shortened to Ladybug. Students will reflect on our Blessed Mother and her close connection to us as they work on this project to accompany Alexa's bench. We know our Blessed Mother is taking care of Alexa now, until we see her again.
