Do you ever wonder what the teachers do when we dismiss at 1:30 on the first Friday of the month? We have so many things that we need to work on, but every month we make time for a teacher to share successful strategies. Today, we heard from Mrs. Sally Chua, who is a kindergarten guru! Kinesthetic learning, finger spelling, incorporation of native language - she taught us a lot today!

Last week, Miss Timmerman shared about her previous experiences working on the US Southern Border with the 8th grade class.

Hebrews 10:35-36 Today, our gift for Catholic Schools Week was a scapular. This is a religious item, like a necklace, that is worn to remind the wearer of his/her fidelity to the Lord and the Lord's promise of protection for us. Father JP preached and taught us about having courage - to do things even when they are difficult. And he reminded us the Lord was with the Hebrews in difficult times, and He is also with us. Then, he invited the 8th graders to bestow the gifts upon the students and staff. In this way, too, we are connected to our patroness, St. Therese, whose Carmelite order wears the brown scapular. St. Theresa, pray for us!

On the third day of Catholic Schools Week, we focused on creativity! Crazy hair, crazy socks, crazy clothes! Or we dressed as an artist! And we are ready for Family Paint Night today at 6:30!

When Pope Francis made an apostolic visit to the United States, in 2015, he shared these words about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Here too I think of the march which Martin Luther King led from Selma to Montgomery fifty years ago as part of the campaign to fulfill his “dream” of full civil and political rights for African Americans. That dream continues to inspire us all. I am happy that America continues to be, for many, a land of “dreams.” Dreams which lead to action, to participation, to commitment. Dreams which awaken what is deepest and truest in the life of a people." May we all continue to be inspired by Dr. King, and may our lives be ones of action, participation and commitment.

This morning at our all school mass, Father John Paul reminded us of something very important that we learn from the gospel of Jesus healing the paralyzed man. His friends cared so much about bringing him to Jesus that they even cut open the roof to get him inside. It is our job to always be leading our friends to Jesus Christ. Then, after mass, Father John Paul had sessions with our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. They explored the topic of "potential" and what they are called to do as students and how that will impact their future. We are super grateful to have such great priests here atSaint Theresa.
